Good news!

Just left the hospital, back at Starbucks.  Peg did great--the surgeon said it was very successful.  It was ovarian cancer, but very localized with nodes in her abdominal area but not her liver or other organs.

Surgery was about three and a half hours.  She's alert and in great spirits-- Karen is with her now and I'm on my way to pick up some swim stuff for Zoë at the house, grab a cheeseburger and pick her up.  Peg wants to see her for a few minutes tonight.

I'll add more details later tonight when I get home, but I wanted to get the word out as soon as I could.  Oh, and Peg's nurse tonight is Daphne... same name as my niece and the second one I've ever met.

Hurray! SO glad to hear that surgery went smoothly, the disease is localized, and good ol' Peg is smiling through it! As someone else commented, if anyone can beat this, Peggy can-- especially with all the collective love and healing energy pouring over you.

Good choice to just close your practice so you can focus on the one thing that matters most: getting well.

We'll be following along on the blog (great idea, so helpful to all your concerned friends)
and thinking about you every day.

Hugs,

Roberta and Harv

Hooray, Peggy!!!! Maybe there was something to that scientific study you mentioned years ago that showed that prayers do make a difference???

As luck would have it, I was in the ER (of all places) last night, as John had a crash on his bicycle and was having his collarbone x-rayed. I took the opportunity to pray to the “Hospital Gods” for for you for pippin’ hot gourmet hospital food, great pain meds, and comedians as RNs! (While they took John off to x-ray at 11 p.m., I decided to take a siesta on his gurney, and imagine the shock of the nurse who approached to realize that her patient had gone from being a red-headed man to a blond-haired woman in just minutes!) The best part of a hospital stay is humor, so I’m sending you a box of humor today (yes, one complete with a spring-out snake that jumps out and surprises you...or would you prefer a buzzer ring for when nurses reach to take your pulse?...)! Or...should I send you the analysis of the inkblot test you completed in my back yard 2 years ago? (I still have the $10 you paid for it....) Ah, yes...I'm so glad all went well, so now we can have some fun with you!!!!

Tons of love,(and love to Eric and Zoe as well)

Delighted to hear the surgery went well! Now onto healing. I know Peggy will create a sacred space to heal. All of us will be there with you Peggy in that circle of rejuvination and transformation.

Thank you Eric for this blog. I guess I should thank Starbucks too! :))

Such wonderful news! It had to be the best news of the day. That Nate had made me a cheeseburger was second best. Mom did well yesterday, but we both got real weird as time went by and no word. She had me doing lots of strange things around the house but that's what we love about Mom. Eric--we checked on the blog and I read her the comments, it was soothing for her to know so many were praying for Peg. Love to all of you, Mike & Chris
