Awaiting flatulence and racing down the hallway

This update courtesy of Lesley, who spent the night and Phyllis, who's there now.  Peg's feeling well and was very alert when I spoke to her a few minutes ago.

She's got some belly distention, probably from gas buildup, so her doctor ordered an x-ray earlier this morning.  Peg took a 15 minute walk down the hallway and said she challenged some guy also pushing his IV stand to a race, but he didn't take her up on it.  She's getting a sponge bath now and will probably conk out for a while.

Here's a brief summary from Lesley's notes from when Dr. Elliott made his rounds: he's started her on "gorilla-cillin" (super antibiotic) and continuing Flagyl as a preventative measure to make sure she's ahead of any infection.  They're giving her extra fluids to get her kidneys moving.  Peg has requested her self-administered pain med strength be decreased because she's in little pain and doesn't want to be so zonked when she hits the button.  Her NG tube (the one in her nose that she so skillfully avoids while brushing her teeth) will not be removed today.

Even though she hasn't passed gas (an indicator that her system is working again), her nurse did report bowel sounds, which means things are headed in the right direction.  So-- if anyone has an "in" with the fart fairies, please put in a request.

Peggy... Whoever thought you would be hoping for a fart to come out, and happy to have witnesses, huh? :) Keep up the good work! xoxo ~Katie

With her limited diet and sliced belly, I know of no way to initiate flatulence. Rather than frequency and regularity on this topic, most of us guys are more interested in pitch and timber (sitting on vinyl is a good accessory).

Kidding aside, Peg, its good to see photos of you doing well and I'll be sending other stuff via private email. Love you, Bro (but which one?)

Man oh man the thought of flatulence not having free rein is simply frightening to me...
Great pictures and I'm thrilled to hear such good news.

Who would think a fart could be such sweet music? Good to hear the surgery went well and good to see the pictures of you looking so good. Keep up the recovery and may all the love and compassion you show to others come back to you many times over.

Hiya Peg,

How is it that you resemble a glamour girl while in a hospital gown (albeit, scoop necked!)?!! Perhaps there is a side-line career in your future as a "happy hospital gown" model? The sparkle in your smile and the mischievous glint in your eyes tell all that you are on the road to recovery, one 15-minute walks at a time. I've been envisioning you in your new career, modeling hospital gowns all over the world -- in the Costa Rica rain forest, hanging from a tree with a bunch of monkeys who are pointing and laughing....in the Russian Parliament room, with Putin whispering under his breath to his aid about that stunning brunette....at dinner with the Obamas, discussing the new national healthcare plan!!! Just keep on walking your way to health down those hospital hallways and who knows what magazine agents might be lurking, ready to spring a contract on you! Keep up the good work!

Tons of love,
Lori
(P.S. Uhhh….did I mention my special legal rate for cousins entering modeling careers?
