When love comes home

There's another song besides "The Rose" Peg wants sung at her memorial. It's by a Davis trio named "Mudlark." Our friend Estelle knows one of the band members and told her about Peg's fondness for the song...and they offered, without being asked, to sing it at the memorial even though they've never met Peg.  Another gift on her journey. I wanted to share this musical treasure with you. Please be patient, it may take a little while to download.

"Doors close, but windows open left and right..."

When Love Comes Home

When love comes and you don’t know what to do ‘cause it wraps all around you,
And your arms already feel full of what you carry.
Love comes and you don’t know what to fear ‘cause it nestles up so near,
To the way you thought you’d be.

Stand still and close your weary eyes,
You can hear love’s gentle sigh as it lays a friendly arm over your shoulder,
Lean in to the comfort love can bring, all the shadows start to sing,
When love stands so near.

When love comes as a freight train in the dark,
Or makes a trampoline of your heart.
And it bounces you so high you lose sight of the ground,
Love comes and everything’s moving fast,
All the plans you had go zipping past,
And you’re wondering about this path you’ve chosen.

You bend, cradle a dove in your hand,
Every childhood comes to an end, but the love you live goes on forever.
Doors close, but windows open left and right.
Don’t hold the dove too tight. Fly into the mystery.

When love comes home after a hard working day,
sometimes you don’t have much to say as it walks in the front door and lays down its burden.
You hear love wandering down the hall.
You make yourself so small that it does not see you there
Watching from the kitchen.

Love calls to the children it shares with you. They know what to do:
Run and jump into love’s arms.
You can lean back and rest in the gentle sound of love shuffling around, making itself at home.
